The rave of Genevieve Nnaji’s Lion Heart movie might have gone down with time, but with the current and ongoing Oscar Drama, Lion Heart comes to mind again as the movie which placed us on an international pedestal and also threw one of our stars into the Billionaire spotlight.
Judging by the reviews of many critical minds, one might be fast to dump the movie Lion Heart into the bin of ‘ordinary movies’ or/and ‘conventional movies’, on a closer look however, the movie Lion Heart weaves conventional into unconventional and carefully adds a bit of extra into its ordinaryness.
Now let’s look at these three interesting happenings in Lion Heart movie.
• THE ARRIVAL OF GODSWILL OBIAGWU : When Nkem Owoh arrived dramatically to be the supervisor of Lion Heart, the audience was placed on the hot seat of whether he would be an evil uncle who would be an albatross around the neck of Adaeze Obiagwu his niece and the rightful heir.
There was the fear of him pushing Adaeze around and becoming more than just a supervisor. Expectedly, even Adaeze feared this until her uncle, Godswill showed himself to be a second father. Interestingly, Uncle Godswill became the audience’s favorite as the movie played on.
• ADAEZE OBIAGWU’S COSTUME : Played by Genevieve Nnaji herself, Adaeze the daughter of Chief Obiagwu came up with a style suitable for an executive. A peplum styled corporate dress in most cases with her hair wrapped around her head in the latest ‘naturalista’ styles.
Her first appearance showed her in the army green dress as she addressed the street thugs who tampered with her ‘business’
Another office appearance showed her in the same army colored dress as she attended the board meeting with her father (on the same day).
Surprisingly, she appeared again in the same color of dress but a closer look showed it was differently styled. Who else expected Adaeze to appear in green all through the movie? Well, I did.
Many of us half expected the character to be in green all through the movie. She did do more greens, but spiced it up with a few more colours before the end of the movie.
• HAMZA MIKANO : Did we all see a Hausa/Igbo marriage immediately at the airport scene?
We all did! We saw it happening… We saw the merger of hearts before the merger of accounts. The moment Adaeze and Hamza were spotted in the same scene, we were sure that love finally took place in the movie…
Now the family business can move on with the family values and ideals not shaken.
The movie has more interesting and fun facts but these three stuck and again we give kudos to Genevieve for a work well done!
